Truth 103 is a local 501(c)3 non-profit, non-affiliated, non-commercial radio broadcast ministry. Unlike some ministries, Truth 103 is not owned, operated or funded by government grants, churches or schools. Being licensed as a non-commercial station means that no one pays us big bucks to air commercials.

So how does Truth 103 stay on the air? We depend on your prayerful financial support. Your generosity makes it possible to hear Truth 103 in the Bloomington-Normal area and online at truth103.com! Operating costs include the following: tower insurance and upkeep (such as paint and labor); LPFM settlement costs; electricity; phone/internet/web hosting/e-mail; music royalties; loan payment (start-up costs, equipment and operating costs); station imaging (voicework); office supplies; promotional items (bumper stickers, banners, business cards).

Regarding man power, there has not been, and still is not, room in our budget for any paid employees. The handful of volunteers giving of their time, talent, treasure or a combination of, do what you and others like you do/have done/will do. We are here to serve. We are not here to make big money, but to make ends meet. A recent estimate of one year of broadcast was approximately $40,000-$50,000. This estimate reflects bare-bones operation, as it has always been our goal to forget the frills and just pay the bills. Our budget is nothing compared to most stations, Christian or not. However, our budget has its share of red, like many stations. (We have not yet been able to become fully funded.) Here is where you can help!

The subject of processing fees has come up a few times, so please note the following: 100% of your gift made with a debit or credit card will go to Truth 103 (minus the small but standard processing fee). Every donation via plastic is subject to this fee. Your gift, of course, is 100% tax deductible, so whatever amount you give (in this case, in 2009) is the amount you deduct for that year's taxes.

Also, if weighing options (debit or credit vs. check or money order), it should be noted that although there are no account or processing fees for our bank account, there are other factors, like gasoline and time (making the deposit, time on the road and at the bank, waiting to be able to use the money). There is a monthly fee for Truth 103 to process debit or credit cards and PayPal administrative fees on each gift, but no money is spent on gasoline and funds are available instantly. It is much faster in general.
