Truth 103 can benefit through United Way of McLean County employee campaigns
We received word that Truth 103 will benefit from the 2008 United Way campaign. Read on to find out more.
If you are planning on contributing to United Way of McLean County through your employer, you can designate your gift to Rock in Victory Ministries, Inc. (doing business as Truth 103).
Here is the scenario. You, your spouse, other family members or your friends have been asked to give to a (McLean County) United Way campaign through an employer. If you or they have ever thought "why should I?" or "I do not need them telling me how to use my hard-earned money" then here is some food for thought. McLean County United Way (MCUW) helps lots of non-profit organizations in the community - although one would not know this from looking at their website - and Truth 103 is one of them. Sure, the major benefactors (and major corporate donors) are listed, but it should be noted that it is possible to designate gifts to other non-profit organizations, including Truth 103, just by writing it on the form provided by the employer.
Thanks to a gracious listener (an employee of one of the employers involved in the 2006 and 2007 United Way campaigns), Truth 103 has received gifts from the UW campaigns, something easily set up by simply writing in Truth 103. Our address, by the way, is the following:
Truth 103
P O Box 1012
Bloomington, IL 61702-1012
If you are feeling the nudge or push of giving more to your community through the MCUW campaigns, keep in mind that you can designate where you want your gift to go. If you are going to give, you might as well give to a cause in which you believe. Further the Kingdom. Designate Truth 103 as the recipient of your gift. Simply write in the following: Rock in Victory Ministries, Inc. (Doing Business As Truth 103). Thanks for your support!
The pros and cons
Although we do not receive 100% of each gift made to our ministry through the MCUW employee campaign, we receive all but a very small percentage of each gift. This is not unusual.
If you are thinking you should give via check or via debit or credit card (utilizing the PayPal virtual terminal) instead, consider this. If you give to Truth 103 through PayPal (using your credit or debit card), whether via phone or internet, there is still some kind of administrative fee. Besides a fee on each Pay Pal contribution, we must pay a monthly virtual terminal fee, which allows us to submit, process and receive gifts through Pay Pal. As for contributions made via Paypal, after they are submitted and approved for processing (which takes less than 5 minutes total), the funds are immediately (instantly) available.
If giving through check or money order, there are fuel costs and it takes more time to prepare checks for the bank and then time for the bank to process them.
So when weighing the pros and cons, it should be noted that contributing to Truth 103 through United Way results in small administrative fees but it is not a big deal. (You might be more concerned that organizations such as ours have to wiat up to a year to receive contributions made through the United Way campaign. We wait until the year after the campaign in which you gave. In other words, if your campaign started in 2008, we would not see a check until 2009. Depending on how large the designation is, we may receive two checks, several months apart, but both arrive the year after your designation was made.)
